The Windsor Seed Feeder with Guardian Cage is a durable, great-value feeder made from hard-wearing metal and finished in an elegant dark green. Its strong metal guardian cage provides reliable protection against starlings, adult squirrels, and larger birds(*), allowing smaller garden birds to feed safely from the tube inside.
Within the cage sits a sturdy metal feeder featuring a durable mesh feeding tube which the birds can cling onto. The mesh tube allows whole peanuts to safely be fed without choking risk, it also doubles up as a suet pellet feeder.
The flip-top lid makes refilling quick and easy, and the feeder slots neatly inside the guardian cage. It can be hung securely from a tree branch, hook, or feeding station using the substantial metal handle.
For deep cleaning, the Windsor feeder can be unscrewed from the base with a screwdriver. Wash it using mild detergent and warm water, ideally with a cleaning brush and bird-safe disinfectant. Always ensure the feeder is completely dry before reassembling and refilling.
A note on squirrel protection although this feeder is squirrel and large bird proof we cannot guarantee that the most determined squirrels or large birds won’t get inside of the feeder, particularly juvenile squirrels and birds which are far more agile than the adults. Birds with particularly long beaks may also be able to access the feeder inside of the guardian. The bars on these feeders cannot be made smaller to protect from adolescent or red squirrels as this would pose a risk to the birds.
