This classic bird feeder can also be fully dismantled for a thorough clean by simply unscrewing the base, taking out the inner tube and then easily removing the perches to ensure every part of this bird nut feeder is well cleaned to keep it hygienic and safe for garden birds to feed from.
*A Note On Squirrel Protection
The Nuttery feeders can only protect against adult grey squirrels and large adult birds. Some birds may not fit through the bars but could manage to get their head into the feeder. Adolescent young squirrels could squeeze into the feeder due to their flexiility. The young squirrels look very similar to adults. This is a temporary seasonal issue.
You may also find that adolescent jackdaws, crows and pigeons may find their way in The bars on these feeders cannot be made smaller to protect from adolescent or red squirrels as this would pose a risk to the birds.
A deterrant of chilli flakes mixed in with the nuts or seeds will deter the squirrels whilst being completely harmless to the birds.
To ensure that this high quality feeder remains safe for your feathered friends to use, this seed feeder should be regularly cleaned which can easily be done by unscrewing the feeders base, taking out the inner tube feeder and then removing the feeder ports - all of which are simple to do and allows your garden birds to continue safely feeding from this feeder.
