Sunflower Hearts for Garden Birds
Our Sunflower Hearts are highly nutritious and oil-rich making them the perfect bird food for all year round feeding, and as the most popular bird seed in the UK, you can expect to see a whole array of wild bird species visiting your garden and tucking into these delicious sunflower kernels.
Sunflower Hearts are a fantastic source of protein, fat, fibre and energy for your feathered friends - containing everything a bird needs to survive all the year-round hardships including cold winters, busy breeding seasons and exhausting fledgling seasons.
Sunflower seeds are tasty and easy to digest - a factor which is crucial for smaller garden birds as with smaller stomachs they need to be able to digest food quickly, and the food they consume must be of a high nutritional value which makes sunflower hearts the best option.
Sunflower heart kernels are also ideal because they leave little to no mess around your bird feeding areas as our sunflower seeds arrive with the husks already removed.
Please note that sunflowers hearts are a natural product so the hearts can vary in size dependent on the weather during the growing season and at times they may include a small percentage of chips.
Available Sizes
Our 3-litre and 5-litre buckets comes with useful carry handles making them easy to move between your bird feeding area and storage area. Once all your bird feeders are full you can simply replace the lid and safely store your bird food in your brand new airtight container. Keep the plastic bucket once emptied and use for future bird food storage.

How to Feed Sunflower Hearts to Birds
Sunflower hearts can be fed to wild birds in a number of ways. From a Bird Table, Sunflower Heart Feeder, Seed Feeder or Window Feeder for garden birds who prefer eating at a height and out of reach from predators, or use a Ground Feeder for ground feeding birds.
Birds you May Attract with Sunflower Hearts:
Blackbirds, Blue Tits, Bullfinches, Chaffinches, Coal Tits, Dunnocks, Goldfinches, Great Spotted Woodpeckers, Great Tits, Greenfinches, House Sparrows, Long-Tailed Tits, Marsh Tits, Nuthatches, Robins, Starlings and Wood Pigeons.
Important Storage Tips:
- Store your sunflower hearts in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and below 14°C, ensure the lid is properly secured. If you don’t follow these storage guidelines your seed can go mouldy.
- A garage or dark shed is the perfect place to store your bird food. Sheds can warm up in the summer so please take extra care to ensure the bird food stays cool during the warmer months.
