he Sari Artisan Wild Bird Nester features a bell-shaped design that offers a medium-sized cavity with a small entrance hole, making it ideal for small garden bird species like Blue and Coal Tits, which typically roost alone or in pairs.

The Fair Trade Bird Nester has a sturdy inner frame for structural support. It includes strong metal hooks at the rear and a long loop at the top, allowing you to securely fasten the nester in natural foliage such as ivy, bushes, trees, or hedges. The small, round entrance is reinforced with steel and slightly protruding to facilitate easy landing and perching for birds.

Purchasing this Fair Trade product supports both wildlife conservation and the local artisan community. In addition to providing a nesting habitat for birds, your purchase helps fund the survival of many women and their families from rural Bangladeshi communities facing desperate poverty. The nesteres are handcrafted by Artisan workers in Southern Bangladesh using hogla grass, a locally abundant material considered a weed, as well as recycled saris.

Each nester is uniquely colorful, as the Artisans choose the vibrant recycled sari patterns, ensuring no two nesteres are exactly alike.

Siting

Position the bird nester in a sheltered space to keep out harsh weather. Preferably face the bird nester between North and South-East. A warm, protected roosting space out of the prevailing wind can be a lifesaver for small birds during cold, harsh weather conditions.
