The RHS Snuffles Hedgehog Box offers hedgehogs a safe shelter with its tunnel entrance that deters predators, as well as its waterproof roof and raised feet that keep the interior dry. Place the box in a quiet, sheltered garden corner surrounded by undergrowth to protect it from wind and rain. Leave dry leaves or straw outside the entrance for hedgehogs to use as bedding.  Snuffles has felt on its base and roof for extra waterproofing.

The Snuffles comes with fixing instructions and some minimal assembly is required, it's really important that these instructions are followed to ensure that the house is safe and secure.

Clean the box in early spring and autumn after confirming it is vacant, avoiding disturbance during hoglet season from May through September.

Use hot soapy water and make sure that the box is well aired and dried after cleaning. If putting out food, leave it a couple of metres away as hedgehogs don’t tend to eat and sleep in the same place. Hedgehogs prefer specialist hedgehog food or tinned meaty dog or cat food and crushed cat or dog biscuits.

To prevent disease transmission, remove any uneaten food and wash feeding dishes daily outside with hot, soapy water, rinse thoroughly, and secure the tunnel entrance before use. Avoid feeding hedgehogs bread, milk, or mealworms, as these foods can harm them. Since multiple hedgehogs may visit the feeding area, daily sanitation is essential.
