At Last! A feeder that really is completely (almost) squirrel proof. Review by Alan Muir
Well made and intuitive to use (although I still haven't worked out what the chain and hooks are for).
It holds a good supply of suet balls (8) which means, with three of these feeders in use, I can go away for a weekend and know the birds won't go hungry.
The only place a squirrel can get at the suet balls is from below, while hanging upside down from the bottom of the feeder, and snatching pieces from the underside of the lowest ball. To try and prevent this I have cut a piece of stout plastic to form a base to the ball holding tube and this seems to have worked for now. In the longer term, I will need to fashion this out of metal as the squirrels teeth are already marking the edge of the plastic but they haven't made it to the suet balls yet - hopefully they will give up until the weather turns wintry again.
Maybe this modification could be incorporated into the design as a standard feature?

Suet ball feeder Review by June
Either the wire needs to be slightly further from the inner casing or further away from the food as we have squirrels which manage to get their heads in and feed. (Posted on 18/07/2016)
