Henry Bell Heritage Squirrel Defence Feeder

Deter pesky squirrels with this Squirrel Proof feeder in a durable, metal construction and finished in stunning Heritage Bronze. Featuring spring-loaded ports that automatically close when a squirrel or large bird lands, this feeder will allow smaller birds to feed in peace.

This attractive feeder also has an easy-fill lid with a wide opening and sturdy metal clasps for secure closure. The included solid metal handle allows for convenient hanging, while the perspex baffle adds an extra obstacle for squirrels while sheltering the birds from the elements.

The metal mesh tube means birds can easily access the seed inside.  This feeder is suitable for seed and seed mixes.

Hints & Tips

• Squirrels are persistent creatures and will endeavour to get from the feeder. Additional measures to deter squirrels are:

• Ensure that the feeder is positioned away from neaby trees, if on a feeding station we recommend a squirrel baffle..

• As an extra deterrent to the Squirrels getting onto a feeder a tree hook can be used as this will increase the distance between the feeder and the hanging point.

• Provide a Squirrel Feeder for the Squirrels as this may encourage them to feed from their own specific feeder and leave the wild bird feeder alone.

• Add a dash of strong chilli powder to the seed mix. Squirrels do not appreciate the taste of the chilli powder, but birds are not bothered by it.

A note on Squirrel Protection*

* Although this feeder is squirrel and large bird proof we cannot guarantee that the juvenile squirrels and  younger large birds which are far more agile and lighter than the adult species wont be able to activate the ports.  Juveniles and young are more of a problem during the Spring and Summer months.
