Chalet Nest Box
Invite nature into your garden with the beautifully handcrafted 32 mm Chalet bird nest box from Tom Chambers. Designed to provide a safe, comfortable haven for small wild birds, this charming nest box is made from high-quality FSC-certified timber and finished with a durable, eye-catching green sloping roof. Its natural look blends effortlessly into outdoor spaces while delivering reliable, all-season protection.
The 32 mm entrance hole is perfectly sized to attract popular garden visitors such as house sparrows, tree sparrows, great tits and nuthatches, while helping to discourage larger, more aggressive species.
For easy maintenance, the Chalet features a practical clean-out door at the rear, allowing simple access when the box is empty and no birds are nesting.
Thoughtfully crafted with bird welfare in mind, the smooth-edged entrance and solid construction create a secure environment for nesting and raising young. The internal space offers generous comfort without leaving birds exposed to predators or harsh weather. Finished with a striking contrasting green roof, the Chalet nest box is a simple yet elegant way to support garden birds year after year.
How to position & fit your nest box
Place the nest box in a sheltered position, protected from strong winds, heavy rain and direct sunlight. Angle the front slightly downwards to help prevent rain from entering.
When fixing the box, use galvanised or stainless-steel screws or nails to prevent rust, using the pre-drilled fixing hole accessed through the side opening. If attaching it to a tree, secure the box with galvanised wire around the trunk or hang it from a sturdy branch, checking fixings regularly as the tree grows.
Ensure the nest box is positioned out of reach of cats and squirrels, ideally mounted on a wall at least 3 metres above ground level for added safety.
