This caged ground feeder is the perfect feeder for ground feeding birds. Some birds may not be able to get inside of the cage but will be able to peck the food with their beaks.
The metal mesh tray lets water drain and prevents seed from becoming waterlogged, and the cage is a deterrant against predators such as Squrrels and larger birds. The two feet lift the cage off the ground and again reduce waterlogging.
Perfect for feeding seed, mealworms or suet, the lid opens fully for easy access, meaning cleaning and filling is a simple task. The clasp will lock the lid shut. It's important to ensure that the feeder is cleaned out regularly and any old seed cleared out.
Made from metal, powder coated in a beautiful dark green.

*A Note On Juvenile Squirrels and birds
This ground feeder is designed to deter adult grey squirrels and large adult birds. Some large birds wont be able fit their body through the bars of the feeder but could be able to get their beaks inside the feeder to access the food.
Young squirrels can potentially squeeze into the bars and access the feeder. Young squirrels look very similar to adults but are far fluffier and more flexible! Squirrels are born in March, April, July and August so there may well be a risk around these months. This issue will be the problem of any squirrel proof feeder with bars. The bar gaps cannot be made smaller as this could be a risk for the birds. You may also find that young jackdaws, crows and pigeons may find their way in.
A dash of chilli flakes mixed in with the nuts or seeds will have no effect on the birds at all but will deter the squirrels if they do manage to access the feeder inside.
