Give blackbirds a safe, quiet place to raise their young.
This beautifully crafted nest box is specially designed for blackbirds and other open-nesting garden birds that prefer a sheltered ledge rather than a small entrance hole. With its open front and deep interior, it mimics the natural nesting spots blackbirds seek out in hedges, ivy, and dense shrubs.
Made from durable, responsibly sourced wood, the nest box offers excellent insulation and protection from the elements. The angled roof helps keep rain out, while the sturdy construction ensures it can be securely mounted to a tree, wall, or fence.

Where to place it
Position the nest box so it is sheltered from strong wind, heavy rain, and direct sunlight. The front of the box should be angled slightly downwards to help prevent rain from entering. When installing, use galvanised or stainless steel screws or nails to avoid rusting. Ensure the box is placed out of reach of cats and squirrels, and install it high up on a wall—at least 3 metres above the ground—for added protection.
When to clean your nest box
-
Clean once a year, ideally in autumn (September–October) after the breeding season, be sure that the nest box is empty before disturbing.
-
Never clean during spring or summer when birds may be nesting
