The Wildlife World Chavenage Bat Box is a single chamber, high quality nesting house for bats, because unfortunately over recent years many of the roosting places of these protected mammals have been lost, and this bat box will provide a lovely place for a variety of bat species to nest - such as the Pipistrelle, Noctule, Leisler’s, Natterer’s, Daubenton's and Brown Long-eared bats.
Use this Wildlife World bat box in any garden, woodland or on a house wall to offer bats a durable FSC certified timber roosting space. Produced from untreated, solid timber this Chavenage bat box is built to last with good insulation to keep any nesting residents warm all year round, and with a narrow entrance slot at the base for access this nesting box has been designed to help deter any potential predators.
Siting and Advice:
- Site high up between 2.5m and 5m on a wall or tree using the pre-drilled back plate hanger.
- Face South West or South East which allows the box to receive partial sunlight.
- Look out for mouse-sized droppings beneath the box as a clue to whether you have any nesting bats.
- Observe your bat box from a distance at night to see whether any bats are exiting the Wildlife World bat box, as this is the time when bats leave to go and hunt.
Please note it is illegal for any member of the public to disturb a roost, handle or kill any bat. Therefore, only licensed bat workers can inspect Bat Boxes
